Spent the evening preparing study skins + taking tissues. Day was overcast, muggy, but not hot. Turned in ~ 2200. de-cember cont. Acajucan, Veracruz, Mexico Arose ~0700. Made breakfast - spent the day Karyotyping, taking tissues, putting up specimens. Day was overcast - but cool temperatures. Lots of firecrackers, etc. in town; getting ready for Christmas. See D.S. Rogers catalogue for numbers and data on specimens prepared. de-cember Acajucan to Playa Escondida, Veracruz, Mexico Slept late (~0800). Made breakfast, cleaned+ repacked car; left Acajucan ~1045 heading for Lago Catemaco. Stopped at Catemaco for a few groceries + ice, then drove on to Playa Escondida (arrived ~1500). Ate lunch at the restaurant there - lots of birders around (a few people from Texas, one expatriot, etc. here for the Xmas bird count in Catemaco on Dec. 30) Looks like the field station is out of the picture - too many birders staying there. Overcast all morning, rained all afternoon. Decided not to set traps tonight- area around the hotel doesn't look very good; too much disturbance - lots more forest cut
