Cerro Mozotol, Chiapas, Mexico
dec. cont.
to our camp at site A ~ 1300. Duke + I sorted
through traps + repaired broken ones till ~ 1500, then
began setting out remaining traps. I checked my
W-slope line and added traps that had previously
been holding animals, making 20 in all. Set another
20 about 100 m S. of that line down same
slope, in similar vegetation (although not a
ravine). Set 10 Shermans further down slope,
beginning at bottom of Line 1 (yesterday's line)
until I reached a very steep area above a path.
All vegetation generally similar to area described
above. Set a final 8 traps about 500m S.
down road, but above road. Duke has set ~40
traps in this area. Promising habitat - many
moss covered logs, moist ground, lots of low
herbaceous ground cover, fairly dense canopy.
Wish I had more than 8 traps to set here!
will try more tomorrow, depending on trap results.
Returned to camp ~1730. Dinner etc. Fog/clouds
came in early today - already thick by 1300.
Turned in ~ 2130.

Arose ~0630. Clear sky, clouds below us. Checked traps on
line in ravine W. of road first - caught 1 P.guatemalensis,
1 Heteromys nelsoni, and 1 Reithrodonomys. According
to Hall + Kelson, it is probably R. sumichrasti. The
