April 30 (cont.) every animal found at beginning of work on one log, (1) found at second site about 12 ft. down same log as earlier capture) - clear off roots & tangle where work started (Bob got some - less moss obscuring bedwood? - vibration of continued work drove animals deeper (lose in grass or inaccessibility due hardwood centers?) - area appearing more cracked or porous - Bob "at least 4 associated w/ termite" accumulations of 'termite dust' - all mules at far points of good ground contact w/ log. - move from stumps. - Bob: foot least 6" (root less) Don: [illegible] to 4" J: 1" to 4" - termite or ant chamber (2 under bark) - Bob - 4 out in open; all rest in heavy shade - all stayed motionless except 1 (Bob) - dropped into crack; started moving off. - general tendency to assume flight soil (vibration?) - all in somewhat checked, soft, brick-red decayed wood.
