Hendriksen 1950 Journal Sept. 3 Black Rock spring, 4500 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. thunder to the south, but nothing developed in our area. At about 8:00 A.M., with a spotty overcast and 10-15 m.p.h. S. wind, the temp. was 24.2°C. Saw a male Sparrowhawk very clearly, but just out of range for the shotgun. Returned down road about halfway to camp, when I found a tiny Chrynosoma coronatum. Zigzagged across wash most of the remainder of the way and collected 3 more (see species account). Collected Foguli Bunting from Manzanita bushes about 1/8 mi. S. of camp. In afternoon Jerry Russell returned from the spring and said he thought he heard a toad croak a few times from the vicinity of the concrete trough. After supper went to the spring with Ward and Jerry Russell. Many bats, apparently almost all Pipistrelles, were flying. A party of weekend picnickers was at the spring. Earlier in the day we had heard shots from that area. Two men were in the party; they emerged from the brush down the road from the spring without
