screachowl (?)
Oct. 26 5pm. N Villavieja, 1400ft; Huila, Colombia, S.A.
An owl, which Paulino calls a "currucuci"
has been calling every night from
a point a short distance W of camp
(E of R.R.). Dr. Stebbins has tried
unsuccessfully to collect it. The
name "currucuci" is a fairly good
imitation of its call.
Oct. 27 Same (?) owl calling again
Oct. 28 " " " " It must
be very shy; it either stops calling or
leaves when Dr. Stebbins approaches.
Oct. 29 Perico shot a large goatsucker which
(Paulino) Perico) they say is the "currucuci". We
are not convinced.
