Leptotila
"Morning Dove"
Hendrickson
1950
(tan-breasted, gray-backed dove, the size
of a turtle dove (larger?), with rounded,
white-edged tail)
Nov. 3 5 km N Villavieja, 1400 ft., Heila, Colombia, S.A.
within about 20 ft. unnoticed by the
birds. No use of the beak was made,
the fight being purely one of wing-
blows - and what sounded and
looked like hard over. This continues
for about 5 minutes, then one bird
apparently gave up and moved
off about 30 ft. The other did not
follow.
Nov. 7 Pereira shot 4, 3 & with enlarged
eggs; one with ca. 10 mm., 2 with
ca. 4 mm. eggs.
