Helicops
Nov. 30 46km. S, 22km. W San Martin, 1600ft, Meta, Colombia, S.A.
This snake was "swimming" in swift water
where the creek flowed over a smooth section
of bed rock to the river. It "swam" under
water, bracing itself on bottom irregularities
for about 3 minutes before a good opportunity
for seizing it arrived. Eventually it reached
a pile of three large rocks in midstream;
it entered a crack in this pile under water,
and with prodding, its head appeared
above water.
