Journal Nov. 26 El Mico, W km 3.22 lam. W hen Martin (1000 ft.) Meta, Colombia, S.A. there is a slow channel leading through this area. No frogs or other herps seen. Nov. 27 Skinned Caiman, wrote note, prepared one bird skin. We did not bring sufficient sawdust, arsenic, or cotton to prepare skins. We are stuffing with toilet paper; scarcity of skins prepared by me in the future may be due to the demands made upon stuffing material by my digestive disturbance. I think I detect an accusing expression on Dr. Stebbins' face each time I start off for the brush with our roll of toilet paper in hand. Nov. 28 Dr. Stebbins and I walked to the foothills of the Macarena. The distance we estimate at about 3 miles. Heading approximately W from the ranch, we crossed three strips of forest: the strip surrounding the spring and small stream near the ranch, and two others along larger streams (each 30'-40' wide x knee deep where crossed).
