Journal Kendrickson 1950 El Paiso, Nov. 25 4km. S, 22 km. W San Martin), 1600 ft., Meta, Colombia, S.A. After supper Dr. Stebbins, one of the ranch men and I went out nightlighting near the ranch house. Heard one or two calls which sounded like L.l. perleoxis and saw one frog which looked like L. obscura (could not collect it) Nov. 26 Most of day spent writing notes, working with specimens, and catering to a case of diarrhea which is now in its third day. Saw two kinds of toveans this morning, and parrots are calling at intervals from trees near the ranch house. Dr. Stebbins and I went out night- lighting. Saw, but missed a fox-size canid (Dusicyon?). Shot a Caiman in spring small, clear stream leading from the spring which serves as water supply for the ranch. Where the animal was first seen, the stream is about 3'1/2-4' wide, about 6"-18" deep, crystal clear and flowing slowly over a boulder-and-sand bed. About 15' down stream from this point the water flows into a swampy area where there are numerous still, clear pools among dense tree growth.
