Nov. 22 Villavicencio, 1400 ft., Meta, Colombia, S.A.
Carlos Velasquez nightlighting along the
small creek which flows along the
S side of town. In my Nov. 19 Journal
I believe I omitted mention of the
drifts and small rafts of rice hulls
along this stream. These apparently
come from a processing plant
upstream. Carlos and I worked
till about 11:00, covering about
1/2 mile of the stream. A few calls
of Leptodactylus species were heard -
no other anurans were heard. Carlos
said the lack of activity was due
to the bright moonlit night; I
believe the relatively dry condition
of the area may have been a
contributory factor; it had rained
a bit at about 4:00 P.M., but had
dried off more thoroughly than on
other days. On Nov. 19, when there
was much activity at this place,
the ground and the vegetation were
quite moist. For today see
species accounts of: Kyla crepitans,
Bufo marinus, Caiman
Leptodactylus
lineata popliea, Leptodactylus obscura, and
Rana palmipes.
