Nov. 17 Villavicencio, 1600 ft., Meta, Colombia, S.A.

they are mainly interested in looking

must register with that office first

the Meta Hotel; the hotel is delightful—
luxurious by comparison with the
Claridge, and cheaper. Sr. Don
Alfredo Lopez, the manager (owner?)
has welcomed us most cordially;
Dr. Richters letter had an electrifying
effect.
Nov. 18 [illegible]. Registered at local Security Office
in A.M. They informed us there that
we should have registered at the
Bogota' office also. We are asked
to do this upon our return
to Bogota'. A friend made in the
Security Office obtained a ride for
us in an army truck, and we
went to Apiay, the army base,
to request "salvoconductos" from
the commanding officer. Apiay
is about 12 km. S.E. of Villavicencio.
