E Rocaag, 12500 ft., Depto Crucero, Peru [12 mi. by road from Catac towards Chavin] Aug.3 (cast.) 32 small Sherman up he canyon and set among the rocks + bushes. Then I set some more up along the small stream where it is moist & the vegetation fairly dense & lush. The soil is soft + there are abundance of roots. I didn't see any sign, but the habitat certainly is there. Ray shot a hummingbird + a finch. General map: 1st canyon 2nd canyon O camp fast bridge 1 mi hill road Dr. Koford caught a rainbow trout. He checked his traps and found an Akodon boliviensis in a snare trap placed up on a rock of a rock wall, not very near grass. Aug.4 I checked the traps I set up the canyon. No catch. There seems to be plenty of mouse habitat, but no definite sign of them up in the lush canyon. Last night it got down to 22° F. Dr. Koford caught 6 more mice - 4 Akodon (same immature) and
