Maclean 1969 Journal (18 July) Dave will take 500 samples there between the 3rd and 4th series — that will tell what is going on. Should be interesting. Not much in the emergence taps. In the evening I lay down for a short nap and couldn't wake up. 19 July Barrow, Alaska Begin 2nd run of the lemming traplined. Dave and I spent the mornings setting our lines XI & XII, I & II. Very little fresh sign — I don't expect much catch. In the afternoon — what else — emergence traps and tanglefoots. Site II S.S. seems to be done. If so, this has been a pretty poor Tipulid year. The 3rd 500 sample series — which begins tomorrow — will tell if more Pedicia larvae are entering their third year than last year. Went in to Barrow, then out to shooting station, in the evening. Joe, Jr., Max, and I took the boat down to Dease Inlet and back in a cold fog. Didn't see any caribou — many Olsquaws on Dease Inlet, a few flocks of king and Common Eiders, several flocks of Black quillworts, and the
