Monument, 500 ft., Clark Co, Nev. 383 February 8, 1954 Caught in gopher sets- One male One female Spent some time during morning changing sets and setting rest of traps. Shot a vernilion flycatcher. In the afternoon Fitch and I went over to the island in an attempt to study the habitat of Saguodon. We chose an area 55-ft. x 25-ft. for intensive study. xxx-tall grass ....short grass ==cat-tails N < O -->S nesting material runway mesquite nesting place The area contained a varied plant cover: tall grass, short grass, cat-tails, and mesquite. We started in by going over the ground thoroughly following out what well developed runways were present, and looking for any signs of nests. The well-defined runways were largely confined to tall grass areas, petering out
