It smacked him on the nose, and after one or two preliminary hops, he dodged down his burrow. January 23, 1934 Caught in traps- 7 Dipodomys merriami 3 " deserti One of the D. deserti, a young individual, was caught in a mouse trap. Spent the morning skinning rats and then went with Benson up onto the mesa to sight on Mt. Davis, Dead Mt., etc., and determine our present position. Spent 3 1/2 hrs. of afternoon getting truck out of sand. Hunting was bad since there was a strong wind blowing. Tonight set out 160 traps in arrow-weed and quail brush. This morning I was awakened by the swishing of the wings of two ravens flying low over camp.
