Latfield-1934 Lap Ranch, Colorado R., 1 1/2 mi. - XE Searchlight, 500+ ft., Clark Co., Nev. 318. January 20, 1934. and that the specimens obtained were exceptional. Took all traps in. Went hunting in afternoon with Fitch. I shot a lutescent warbler and Fitch shot a pipit. Saw 2 red-tailed hawks, a Cooper or sharp-shinned hawk, a cactus wood pecker, a red-naped sap- sucker, a flicker, ruby-crowned kinglet? Put out 100 traps on mesa tonight. Found a badger burrow near end of traps line. Found feces at entrance. January 21, 1934 Caught in traps - Nothing- Now I am more certain that either Perognathus formosus is hibernating or some disease has killed off most in- dividuals. Fitch had 50 traps out along the base of the mesa, and 100 traps on top of the mesa, and caught one wood-rat, so for 250 traps, the sum total of the catch was one wood-rat, rather poor trapping.
