Natfield -1934 Lap Ranch, Colorado R., 1/2 mi. &E. Searchlight, 500+ ft., Clark Co., Nev. 316 January 18, 1934 was 9 to 13. The second night the ratio of males to females was 6 to 7, However, on the third night, the ratio was 9 males to 4 females. Now, perhaps, as has been suggested to me, this was merely an example of the working of the laws of averages; however, it seems to me to show something more; that, since the females were caught first, they may be considered to be more active than the males. Took up traps in the morning. Set 50 traps in creosote association. January 19, 1934. Caught in traps - 12 Dipodomys merriami 7 & 5 ?? - Two with 1 x 14 mm. embryo. Left traps out. Went for water in the morning. Hunted during the afternoon. Went up onto first bottom of river. Walked approximately 2 miles toward the moun- tains on the west side of the river. The entire time saw only one verdin, and I shot that. It is surprising how barren
