Hatfield 1934 Lap Ranch, Colorado R., 1 1/2 mi. NE Searchlight, 500 ft., Clark Co., Nev. drinking. Moved camp to "Lap ranch", about a mile & a half below the last camp. Saw two Say phoebes, numerous song and sage sparrows and Abert towhees at new camp. Set out 58 traps tonight in same association as last night. Saw great horned owl in dead mesquite tree. It allowed me to approach within 50 feet of it before flying away. Heard what was very likely the same individual calling about 2AM. Heard a screech owl about an hour later, but it was quiet after about 10 minutes of calling. January 15, 1937 Caught in traps - 10 Dipodomys merriami My traps were set last & night when it was practically dark, and consequently I was unable to pick out varied areas in which to set traps.
