atfield 1934 500+ ft., Colorado R, 14 mi. SE Searchlight, 302 Clark Co., Nev. January 8, 1934 at the Durkin Ranches inquire as to suitable camping place. Saw a Grambell white crowned sparrow there. Were directed to the Updyke Ranch about 1 1/2 south of Durkin's, and from there drove still farther (about a mile) south and east to the present camp, directly on the river. Set out 50 traps in the arrowweed tonight, and heard quail roosting going to roost, but was unable to see them because of the dark. January 9, 1934- Caught in traps - 3 Peromyscus maniculatus 2 " eremicus 1 Dipodomys merriami 1 Pipilo aberti One of the P. eremicus was badly chewed and unsuitable for mounting. The traps were set in an area densely over- grown with arrowweed. The soil was cracked and dry, evidently having been previously flooded. The P. eremicus were both caught under two solitary mesquite trees; the P. maniculatus under dense arrowweed, and the D. merriami in an open sandy spot. During the day, saw several Albert tawrees, 4 Phainopeplas, 2 wrens, a sapouckes, and a zmy sparrow.
