Jun 26 Parama City, Parana, and Baner Colmado Islands, and some number of Vultures. This was our 100 or so days of the hill & saw mostly these were Black Vultures, Coragyps atratus but some goshen 1040
Turkey Vultures, Cathartes aura. The Turkey Vulture seemed to be flying higher than the Black Vultures as had the details of their wings more pronounced.
Some vultures were also perched on towers on the hilltop. Also seen here was many flash of small, short tailed sparrows. They were about 6" long and mostly green with some blue in wings. I asked a bird, Parama City, Birdwatcher and he said that this was a Lani Perchut. I can't find this name in my reference book but believe it was a member of the Genus Corvus or Brotogeris. Also seen were Mockingbird, Mimus polyglottis, Brown Pelican, Pelecanus occidentalis, and Boat-tailed Grackle, Quiscalus mexicanus. Several different small birds were seen with an Albatross type and another looking to be a member of the genus Diglossa. On the train we saw several other species. I could identify the Ruddy Regent Brown-Dove, Columbicalina talpacoti, swift of genus Chaetura, Rock Dove, Columba livia, Blue-black Grassquit, Volatinia jacarina, an all brown Robin-like Thrush Fawned Turdus sp., a woodpecker, a white Egret and the Least Bells, Podiceps dominicus, and Black Vultures. Much of the country we passed through was quite broken and the forest growth present was all dense growth.
