R.B. Hamilton 1967 Journal 8 km WSW of Bagua, Dept. of Amazonas, Peru, elevation 1500 ft. August 23 but unfortunately there was none. By the time it was getting dark we were getting desperate and found an old soccer field where we camped. The strip of riparian vegetation was now very thin and it did not look very promising. The area immediately next to the soccer field was a field with almost inpenetrable brush about 3 rabbit-like ft. high. There were many droppings underneath the brush but we saw no rabbits. RioUtcubamba, 29 km S, 38 km E of Bagua, Dept. of Amazonas, Peru, elevation 2500 ft. At this site Fred and Ray set up a net and Carl and I set out traps. It was about dark by the time camp was set so we did not have time to do much. We went to sleep about 10:00. August 24 When we awoke, we found a bat in Ray's and Fred's net. Carl collected one Phyllostis magister and Ray got an Oryzomys sp. Right after breakfast Fred went hunting and collected a Black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) and a Torrent Tyrannolet (Serpophaga cinerea). Carl shot and collected a Streaked Saltator (Saltator albicollis). There present were several species of seedeaters and anis. We left early to proceed on our way.
