sleep out, but it started to sprinkle so I re-
treated to tent and spent the night there.
August 16 The nets caught only a couple of bats, and Fred
and Carl caught nothing in the traps.during the
night. After breakfast Fred went hunting and
brought back a dark flycatcher and a sparrow.
Then I went hunting after moving my net to what
I hoped would be a more favorable location. I
shot a Sparkling Violetear (Colibri coruscans),
an Atlapetes sp., a small-Hepatic Tanager,
(Piranga flava), and an immature Empidonax sp.
When I returned to camp, I found a Dendrocalpatd
in net. Ray went hunting next and collected a
Piranga and a sparrow. After supper I moved my
nets again. Ray, Fred, and I again went frog
hunting and caught several Hyla and then slept
by the nets.
August 17 We awakened at 06:00. During the night Carl got
2 bats in his net and I got 3 in mine. In the
morning I put up my bats. This was the first
time I had put up bats. After breakfast I went
night hunting and shot a White-winger Brush-finch
(ATlapetes leucopterus). I shot it from a bush
about 6 ft. high at edge of low brushy area.
About 13:00 we broke camp and continued up the
mountain. About 13:30 we saw a finch perched
