R.B. Hamilton 1967 Journal En route to Jaen, Dept. Cajamarca, Peru August 15 must have been very recent. We stopped the car and looked around for snake. (I am not sure if we really wanted to find it or not.) There was a large fig tree near stream on which there were many birds. I shot and missed a Squirrel Cuckoo and what appeared to be a barbet in the road. I saw a yellow-bellied flycatcher and a warbler. Fred shot a blue Tanager (Thraupis sp.) and a Parula Warbler. Ray collected a Tropidurus Hyla. We then proceeded further up the road looking for a favorable campsite. There were few places where we could park the car and where there was also a suitable place for our tent. We finally chose a spot near a bridge crossing a stream. 16 km N, 25 km E of Olmos, Dept. Lambayeque, Peru elevation 4300 ft. Near campsite was small stream with some grass and cultivated areas nearby. There were several densely vegetated slopes nearby but most vege- tation was bushy and there were few large trees. Two squirrels were seen when we first arrived at camp. Carl collected a Parula Warbler at this site. Then Carl and Fred set traps and Ray and I set up a net and then put up some specimens. After supper Ray, Fred, and I went down to the stream frog hunting. We found several frogs but were unable to find any snakes. I planned to
