J.G.Hall 1952 36 July 22 Sagehen Creek 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. started but then continued to feed. Two beaver visible, one in cave feeding on willows in water, the other feeding in next cave down-stream. Doe heard something on N shore but continues to feed. 7:55 Two beaver muzzle each other in burrow cave. Doe left while I wasn't looking. Beaver takes dead sticks and brush and dives with them. 7:57 takes more material & dives. Young beaver (yearling?) seen in main pond. Swims toward spit, then dives swimming underwater from little isle to spit, then on surface to lower island. Tail of this small beaver is on surface when it swims in contrast to that of adults. Young beaver began to cut willows on lower island 8:06 adult still in cave below small dam, pulling dead roots & sticks from bank & taking them downstream. One adult came for another dead stick, another came to a feeding platform & cut some willows bringing them into shallow water
