At 7:45 he appeared but was lost to sight down a N branch of the stream for a couple of minutes after which he returned to first willow clump, cut another branch & dove as before. Always dove in exactly same spot. There are no aspen within a reason- able distance from this house so it will be an interesting col- ony to study in contrast to the others. 8:05, reappeared, climbed up over small dam, swam 20' under, 20' above surface, then dove 30' downstream from house. When swimming on surface it looks something like this: water-lie 8:10 reappeared just off the house, swam lazily around N side of a little island & was lost to sight 8:12 a doe appeared on N side of stream & crossed to S side, just up from blasted dam. 8:16 saw beaver on S end of blasted dam & freshly cut willow & which it entered water & was lost to
