Hall 1955 3/15 Sept 2 Sagehen Creek, 3mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. R'slide tree in pond 3. 7:35 Big one, (ident from photo as 8) comes down channel to pond 3 + over main crossing of dam into level 2. As he did so I first took a telephoto & the 35-mm then a flash shut & the set camera. He paid absolutely no attention to the flash of light or to the noise of shutters and continued serenely down stream via the N channel of large island. I left about 7:45 after setting camera on automatic for rest of night. // Checked camera 10 AM-no luck. Helped Gard shoot fish in pond 7 rest of morning. Took several black & white on 620 Lower 3-4:30 PM. surveyed across V-A line & slide. 7-8:00 watched for beaver at shack along & while Gard but saw none at all. 7:45 I does sprang across stream at vicinity of shack - acted in a hurry, may have got Sept 4 Shack colony and in same tree as last night (about 20' SW of lodge) by 6:20. A little rain this afternoon but all is clear now. 7:05-10 Watched & tried 3 telephotos of grown mink as it worked over the large leaning log next to the lodge. It explored it the lodge and two other logs. No beaver in sight again all evening. Left 7:45.
