Hall 1955 313 Aug 30 Saglehen Creek, 3 mi NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, California Lower seen. Left 7:50. Heard poorly at Roadside. Sept 1 Mapped in the morning with help of R'slide Pete Brussard. Sept 2. 5:30 A.M. Full moon. Fairly warm for the time of day. No activity at pond 8 so went to pond 4 & was met by splashing & diving routine when I reached 5 dam. Beaver barely visible by the moonlight. I got into position in Obs by 5:40 & the beaver soon was lost. Faint light noticeable in the East. 6:15 an adult swam underwater from the lodge to isle. Moon just set. 6:20 lit up over Xing with a small willow cutting & which it dove into lodge. Simultaneously another beaver swam from 5 to N dam. 6:25 a beaver (probably same as the I? one observed) swam underwater from isle to lodge. 6:30-6:35 an adult made 4 trips from N dam to small [illegible] above the crossing to deposit mud on the dam. Walked on hind legs carrying mud pressed against chest & forearms. It then swam to bridge near cove to bank burrow. I left at 6:40, pass- ing by pond 8 on my way but again it had no activity.
