Aug 27 Sage Hen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif.
Upper to climb. Water very muddy by bank
den near leaner "of scarbark" on my arrival
7:20 Beaver appeared in deadfall pond, cut
willows, went over dam & into leaner bank
den. Had a good look at his tail which
definitely has no mark; a medium sized
animal. This means there are at least 3 beaver
here. 7:30 "no-mark" left den, floated, then
went ashore near scarbark & ate some grass.
then back to water, over 2 dams into main
pond, over main pond dam 7:38. At 7:45
(I came up from below & entered bank
den, but left immediately to go up over
2 more dams as I came down from above
& entered den. I climbed down at 7:50 as
I went over into main pond. Left colony 8/19.
