Hall 1955 309 Aug 22 Sagetien Creek, 3mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Lower 8:00 Two small mustelats chasing each other by the lodge. Sgt 8PM seeing 3 deer, I forgot I turned out on way back. Aug 23 Arr 11AM & put out triangulation stakes from shade area upstream to Wicks "W5" tree & then back downstream to sta. V of the 1953 survey. 12:50 took color shot of shade pond exp 14 from the leaning old tree. Left 1 PM. R'slide Arr. 6:45 & Trevor in usual old tree. 6:47 bit down over xing from main pond. 7:03 & up over xing into pond & dove on N side of isle. 7:10 "edge" came into pond from N channel & floats. Another adult (& prof.) in a cave. 7:15 & over xing to #3 pond. 7:20 mid mark floating by isle, another gnawing in sink hole by lodge. 7:31 mid then swime about pond and dives into lodge. 7:40 a bit 2nd over xing to #3. Left 8PM. Aug 24 Spent AM mapping & Trevor // on 25th spent Aug 25 morning mapping & All Sutton, afternoon mapping, lower. R'slide Rockslide from pond & to Wicks pond upstream. Aug 27 All afternoon mapping in detail parts of R'slide. R'slide & Upper 7PM arr upper colony & climbed the very rickety deadfall old tree for the first time. This is an excellent obs point as it com- mands a good view of active areas both up & downstream (more than do either of the lower old trees) but is dangerous
