Hall 1955 307 Aug 22 Sagetter Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Lower 7:09 adult beaver, possibly same one seen earlier at N end of dam, seen by middle of dam. 7:15 kit comes from main dam & willow & takes it into lodge. 7:18 (J) appeared in pond by the lodge & went up-channel. Area to rear of right & perhaps left ear was darker or area between ears a little lighter than normal. This was the animal that was bleached in area behind & between ears (see page 296). This beaver was trapped slightly above the shade the night of Aug 4 and thus is one instance (crossing the "boundary" between my two so-called new & old sections of the lower colony area. 7:20 heard mewing from the lodge. 7:22 (J) and a med- ium sized beaver, larger than a kit, appeared in the pond near the lodge evidently coming from a bank bur- row, and floated side by side for some time, the med. size one mew- ing. a beaver (kit?) cutting in willows near the lodge at same time. 7:27 the med. size one swam up channel 7:30 a muskrat working in willows 30' SW of the lodge & on edge of channel.
