Hall 1955 Aug 12 Sage Hen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. R'slide and took a stroll to area below dam #1. There are very recent signs of much willow cutting here, probably much of it being used to build & rebuild the dam across the water intake for Hobart mills & which they've been having trouble this year. These cuttings below my lowest willow sample are going to complicate interpretations of my willow program considerably. I believe bulk of these cuttings were made since I put in my lowest (A) willow sample which was then (early summer a year ago) at or below lowest limit of cutting. 7:45-8:00 I tore out the dam over water intake. Water temp 8:05 PM pond #1: 60°, went upstream & heard meowing from pond #4 lodge at 8:15. An adult dove & splash. Arr. pond 8 by 8:25. No activity there this year as far as I can tell. Temp of water at deep end: 64.5°. Aug 14 at noon took yellow truck down to lower Evers Ranch & in to below the lower colony to pick up my traps. While so engaged, met a fisherman, Dave Hall, who claimed to have planted one pair
