Hall 1955 300 Aug 9 Sage Hen Creek, 3mi NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. Upper 6:20 PM Asp marking schedule: 6:40 Beaver movement but couldn't see any beaver. 6:55 [illegible] floating in a S channel just below deadfall dam. I arr. seat 7PM. Questionable fleeting glimpse of beaver head in flash tree pond. 7:22 [illegible] went over dam & into lodge under water, then out & to S end of pond where I eventually lost him. 7:40 beaver whose tail was not visible is working in mid channel pond for 5-10 min. then he goes upstream & is lost. 8:05 a large beaver comes down over deadfall dam via N channel into main pond, climbed out on a felled asp near N shore & peels bark off same. Tail unmarked! Until now I'd considered pop here to consist of two beaver, both of which I'd marked last year! This means pop is 3. Left 8:10. 8:30 Hornedowl heard from about vicinity of Kiln Meadows. Coyotes heard 10 PM. Cold night. Aug 10 2-5 PM - sketch - mapped in details. Arr R'slide Old tree 6:50, warm & clear & up over ringthin dove into lodge. Mid spot swam down pond from N channel. Both beavers went ashore, I cut willow, mid mark went made to
