Hall 1955 298 Aug 7 Sage Hen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Lower (sta #30), upper two not sprung. Est. these two animals as yearlings; perhaps 2 yr. olds. No. 30 Beaver: main dam beaver bleach bleach left 9 A.M. Aug 8 4:05 P.M. hunting at roadside on way down, → at bend. Beavers have extended work- ing to clear around bend now + with the exception of a very small gap, are now in evidence from crossing of Highway 89 to the main dam of the "old" lower colony, about a mile downstream! This was done sometime in July probably. Set traps after sup- pert then climbed an old tree at main pond by 6:25. 6:35 beaver emerges from lodge, cuts willow + reenters lodge + a branch; tail not visible. 6:45 beaver seen swimming up from above willow sample + had unmarked tail. 6:55 muskrat nr. lodge. 7:00 kit leaves lodge, swims up where plain-tail went. 7:03 another sight of muskrat. This is the first I've seen of them in Sage Hen. 7:20 another kit or possibly yearling leaves lodge, floats on other side of
