Hall 1955 297 Aug 6 Sagetien Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. Rslide Mapped in some new places at pond & creek Lower park. Arr. Lower colony 4:45 to reset traps. 5PM at sta "N" on S side I scared up 2 young grouse, + 2 adults (two families?) one of which had an incomplete gray band on the tail [drawing] which flew up to a lipole gray and clucked repeatedly. Set 2 traps above shade colony, 2 near main coly. One beaver swimming near lodge of shade colony as I climbed the old tree 6:25. He disappeared. Breezy slight overcast. 7:13 minx seen at base of a large pine 20' upstream from lodge. 7:40 what looked like a small beaver went down over dam below main dam. Couldn't get glasses on it in time to tell about details. 7:50 beaver cutting willow from under cover of large fallen log near lodge. No good view. Left to check lower traps. 8PM. 8:10 lowest trap sprung but one half held open far enough by a branch for the beaver to escape. Beaver swimming in main pond as I approach. Aug 7. 7:45 AM. Checked traps + caught 2 med. sized beaver in the lower 2 traps (one at main dam, the other at
