Hall 1955 281 June 30 Sage Hen Creek, 3 mi., NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Upper above the spot mark location. Creepers seen at Fork 1 PM and at mid point of sample D where one had nest under bark of dead e pole about 4' off ground. Left 4 PM, saw pr of cowbirds 4:30 in kiln midw (N end) where Hoffmann I noted them earlier. I saw a clutch as July 1 well as a "tlee". A Carr. perch 6:40 clear, v. windy. 7:30 double notch comes down mid-channel into main pond + goes behind lodge. 7:35 goes ashore to tear off piece of bark from the 14" aspen it's been peeling regularly other evening. Returns to shallow water as usual, to eat. 7:40 crosses down over the main or N dam wing into the 2 next lower ponds + finally into Jim's old pond. I think tho' I lost sight of him fin- ally. 7:50 some activity there. 7:55 I climbed down & explored upstream slowly on N side. 8:10 beaver comes down mid- channel + dives into lodge. Am sure this is not double-notch tho' I couldn't see tail. I went downstream to the big tree recently cut just below Jim's old at 8:35 from where I could see a beaver cutting willow in the pond just below.
