June 20 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
R'slide ming in N channel. Then still another
one (marks?) with the first one in the
channel. The marked one may have re-
turned from upstream unnoticed but
doesn't seem likely. 8:35 one seen cutting
in currant bushes on shore about 20'
N of scent mound. He seemed then to
disappear down a hole in the ground
nearby, not try coming back to water.
Since he was not seen crawling
from water to the currant bushes,
it's probable there is an opening
there that connects to the bank
burrow under the scent mound. Will
have to check this. We left at 8:45
& on way up to meet Bob saw a
beaver swimming in the pond
above the next dam (where Bob
saw one). Best estimate of no. of
beaver seen this eve.: 3 animals.

in Midw. Arr. U. Colony 9:35 saw William-
son's Sapsucker on way in to pond. Asp &
