Hall 1955 270 June 20 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. R'slide ming in N channel. Then still another one (marks?) with the first one in the channel. The marked one may have re- turned from upstream unnoticed but doesn't seem likely. 8:35 one seen cutting in currant bushes on shore about 20' N of scent mound. He seemed then to disappear down a hole in the ground nearby, not try coming back to water. Since he was not seen crawling from water to the currant bushes, it's probable there is an opening there that connects to the bank burrow under the scent mound. Will have to check this. We left at 8:45 & on way up to meet Bob saw a beaver swimming in the pond above the next dam (where Bob saw one). Best estimate of no. of beaver seen this eve.: 3 animals. June 21 Left Camp about 8:00 & Hoffmann and Upper checked his Kiln Midw traps on way up to Upper Colony. Noted J cowbird singing in Midw. Arr. U. Colony 9:35 saw William- son's Sapsucker on way in to pond. Asp & willow well out & saw a couple of fine snow plants. Noted mink tracks near
