Will have to get a closer look to make sure. This animal worked a peeled stick into the little dam just above crossing, turned back up N channel, diving (into burrow at scent mound prob- ably). 8:10 reappeared & another stick + re- peated his performance, dove, emerging & mouth full of fir branchlets which he worked into the large dam. Then he swam up to blasted dam & dove. 8:20 reappeared. swam out time blasted dam, then back & dove into lodge. 8:25 emerged and at same time noticed another beaver same size, no tail marks in N channel. Marked beaver comes out on shore, barely, carrying mud in forepaws & walking on hind feet. This is the first time I've ever seen this. Deposits mud. Next a beaver (not sure which one) swims upstream thru gap in blasted dam, on up out of sight (first olm of this). Hoffmann saw this one in vicinity of the 2nd lodge (where I trapped last & in 1953). Lost sight of unmarked one temporarily but at 8:30 an unmarked one seen swim- ``` `{
