March 6 Gray Lodge Refuge, 5 mi. SW Gridley, Butte Co, Calif.
just after supper, then checked all
traps & flash. Checked flash again
at 10:30. No luck. Moon almost full.
March 7 Spent most of morning trying out
the remote-control camera set to aim
at an apple-baited field N of Bob's
cottage; since got no rabbits in the
flash trap last night. No rabbits
obliged so I got a shot of a
pipit which obliged. We left about
2:30 after taking some close-ups of
lady jacks for Bob.
Apr. 15 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif.
Left camp 9:10 for upper colony. 40°, clear & calm.
Snow 1-2' deep in patches of shade around
camp, other large areas clear of snow.
