J.G. Hall 1954 253 Dec 18 Sagehen Creek, 6500 ft., 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Upper short little tunnels in snow right next to lodge. No melt hole in top of lodge. Marking schedule: D | X 1 | 1 2 || 3 — there 2 trees were not marked 3 || as I ran out of paint so will 6 | 1 have to be subtracted from next Felix tally. Left at 1:30 and as main camp 2:45. Dec 19 Got to 4° below again last night. At 9:05 I followed road out to 89, then kept down it to the stream crossing which I reached at 10:05. Heard crossbills and a dowdy + saw chickadees. Also heard R.R. Smith. Lots of coyote tracks coming down to cross stream at the bend just below road - side colony. Followed snowshoe trails of some of the air corps survivor group all the way down to the upper end of the Lower. New section which I reached by 10:30. All in all very little cutting & what there was was restricted to the new section. Lots of clinchbare cuttings in evidence in places along the south shore. Examined both main lodge & new, "shack along" lodge. Latter had a nice melt hole about 1 foot in diam. & 1 foot deep, down to the
