Sept 12 Sagehen Creek, 650ft, 3 mi NW Hobart Mills Nevada Co, Calif.

I came down into pond underwater but
then I lost sight of it. 6:55 a small
beaver with no tail notches seen in main
pond, dove + was lost. 7:10 unidentified beaver cutting willow in "scarbarb"
pond. 7:20 spike, doe, fawns on N shore.
7:30 twin notch (2 thins) came up over main
dam into main pond, swam back & forth,
splashed, finally went over one of the
middle crossings to cut willows. I climbed
down at 7:30 and went over to the N shore.
As I stood on the log reaching from my
tree to the shore, twin scar (I) came
back over the main dam with a willow in her
mouth and spied me. She swam and
splashed about excitedly very close to
me, splashing me once, then dove into
the lodge with willows in tow. 7:45 I
made my way over to the lodge to see
if I could hear her chewing. Put my
head down close to lodge but could hear
no chewing so prepared to leave. Just
then she surfaced in the little canal
that beavers have cut to make an island
of their lodge. I was on a log that crosses
this little canal. She beaver began
to hiss & splash excitedly and didn't
