J.G.Hall 1954 224 24 Aug. Sagehen Creek, 6500 ft, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Lower 9:00 a.m. cool, hazy cirrus clouds & a light breeze. Cooperi (?) hawks at upper end of new section. 15 Jeffrey partly girdled. 10:10 saw quite a large hawk flying downstream about 50' overhead, about size of red-tail tho' no red visible. 10:30 kingfisher at the main pond. Saw an olive whorl flycatcher in aspt fir stand, probably Wright's. This was 50' up from the stream. Beaver on south side have gone 40' upslope from the old RR grade to get fir & almost as fasto get asp. All dams on new section of the colony on S side show new work & are higher. By mid morning skies had clouded over heavily & high winds & a drop or so of rain, then cleared up some staying windy. 2 left at #40. 12:20 after a little rain at 11:40.
