J.G.Hall 1954 2/11 July 28 Sagehen Creek, 6500ft, 3mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Lower Colony The young were colored "two-tone" dark & light brown. A couple of seedlings 4 & 8" high respct. have taken root under the excavation left by falling of snag. Jack Mosher pushed over on June 28. At 3:35 2 toots shot of Gard taking water sample 25.6 esp. 4 PM took 2 shots of balanced stump one at 28, one at 35.6 and shots of marked & unmarked asp & drag-trail and one of the general stand from a rock painted on a red "P," all at 28. Much cutting on this slope. 4:05 flushed 4 grouse near station N"on S side in a low area of small aspen & Wy- ethia. They flew upstream in a fairly level line of flight. Left 4:15 July 29 Betty & I drove all the way up to U.colony Upper Colony in Dick Gard's jeep, arriving at 10 AM. Clear, calm & hot. Cutting schedule: D X a "" should be added to first count this summer (added ok w/p 191) and one should be added to last winter's count sometime. Newest cutting has occurred upstream on N side. Left 11:30 AM. R'slide July 30 Set 4 traps at 4 PM,// Checked there at July 31 10 AM but no beaver. Left one trap set at dam #13. Don't think beaver are up here
