J.G. Hall 1954 206 July 21 Sagehen Creek k, 6500ft, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co. Calif. R'slide to the isle, then, on surface 25' up- stream from blasted down to some willows on which he fed partly in & partly out of the water. This is the farthest upstream I've actually seen a beaver from the vic- inity of this lodge go. At 8:20 he came back to lodge, acted as if he might go up into the little cove where I had one of my traps set, just upstream from the lodge, but didn't. Can't decide if these guys are actually trap-shy or not but this one acted a little bit that way. He next returned upstream thru gap to same place he'd fed before. I lost sight of him shortly. 8:25 saw beaver caught & sexed yesterday just about to come over the crossing from N channel to main pond. A trap was set just on the pond side of this crossing and as he had his nose about even w the edge of it, he hastily backed off and entered main pond via the little dam where I'd pre- viously had a trap. This beaver is the one caught July 20 near sta. 21 which is 100+ yds upstream from here. He was coming up from somewhere down- stream. He dove near the lodge. This is the
