June 16 Wyman Creek, 6700 ft., White Mts., Inyo Co., Calif.
steep c walls rising perhaps
200' in spots. Length is about 2
mi. Weather very hot & saw no birds in
gorge itself. Followed creek down another
1/2 mi. to jet, c the cut-off road. Saw
Chukars (4 or 5) which ducked into
willows along stream. Shot but lost a
chat. Saw what I took to be japus
jumping in some tall grass in a
marshy area. Took cut-off road back
to camp. Went through sage & sage
flatst hills. Shot a desert spar-
row & 1 Collared lizard, 1 Scel-
-oporus and two Onemidophorus.
Saw 2 leopard lizards.
Heard up a couple jack-rabbits
and 4 or 5 more Chukars. Road
covered c Chukar tracks. In evening
Night hawks flew above camp &
Frank shot 2. We all went
into gorge to set traps for
Japus Frank & Ward in up-
per part, I went down to lower
area & left 8 traps. Heard Saw-
