J.G.Hall 1954 June 2 Indian Creek, 7400ft, White Mts, Esmeralda Co, Nevada which was the balmiest day we had so far saw what but seen in Flitcher - hole tree. Poor-wills abundant on meadow and I shot one by shining. Reset flash-trap though had no luck last night. June 3 Checked flash trap but no picture - all bait but that tied to trigger was gone, however at 6 I left camp to hunt downstream along the willows away c Frank but we soon separated. Birds unusually quiet this morning. Finally got a chipmunk, probably minimus. Then cut over across the S fork to a small canyon full of pinyons on the N slope of that valley. No birds except two nutcrackers flying overhead. Chipmunks fairly common but wary. Left this and cut over to birch thicket just below the junction of the two roads. Here saw spotted green-tailed towhees heard black-headed grosbeaks and pileolated warblers. Saw Steller's Jay and shot a warbling vireo! The Tolmie warblers are loudest songsters early in the
