About noon caught yng. Neotoma lepida in food box. Weather today has been cloudy bright and windy. At sunset we noticed two birds of about crow size harassing a golden eagle out over the Fish Lake Valley. 1 June Lake Valley. At 6 I started up the road above post meadow about a mile from camp. Stuck fairly close to willow thickets but going into clumps of pinon occasionally. The whole area seemed much quieter this morning than on previous ones. Black-headed grosbeaks, robins, spotted & green-tailed towhees, Mt. Cladea ducks, Oregon juncos, spil. warblers and an unk. warblers were seen here. Crossbills flying overhead one and a mourning dove called from the rocky N. hillside. Saw bird-tailed hummingers. On way back about 8:30 got a Uta stansburiana roared several Sceloporus. In willow swamp heard + saw jays, shot a pewee and a house wren. Back
