J. G. Hall 1954 27 May Trail CaƱon, 8900 ft., White Mts, Esmeralda Co, Nevada They might be nesting in cavities in the rock but they didn't go in any in the 15 min. I watched. In evening set 8 traps out in sagebrush bordering the stream, 4 on the very edge of the stream. 28 May [illegible] Got one Peromyscus last night before bed time + 10 more when traps were checked about 5 AM. Two were sprung & bait gone. Ward Russell says he's never seen Pero- myscus so abundant anywhere. at 6:15 took shot of our camp in color. Hunted along stream bank from 6:15 to about 10 this morning, all up- stream from camp. Weather clear & calm all morning but birds un- usually quiet all morning. Birds in willows: Tolmie & Pileated warb- ers, Empidonax, chickadee, Robin, Stel- ler jay, fox sparrow & white-crowned sparrow. Shot the sparrow in willow clump. Began to cloud up early in afternoon and around 5:30 rained just a little with a flurry of snow. Cloud cover in evening - relatively warm. 29 May Packed up and moved camp to Indian Creek further south on the East Side. On way
