J.G.Hall 167 May 27 Trail Canyon, 8900ft, White Mts, Esmeralda Co, Nevada One view of what probably was a piledated warbler. Shot of g.t. towhee. Crossed over to the dry ravine where, besides sage there is some mt. ma- hogany and pinyon pine higher up. Saw several Empidonax that had the 'chu-reep' call note. Sage spar- rows also singing over here. Song starts like a step-wise pine siskin changing over into a song similar to a slow juncos trill. Scared a cotton- tail & several chipmunks. The Clark's nutcrackers very abundant & voc- iferous, A pewee and a v.g. swallow plus a spotted towhee. A Downy wood- pecker and a piledated warbler. One nutcracker came to a little seep about 30 yds away while I sat, and took a drink, flew away & came back for another. A couple of 4" Sceloporus dark- ed under rocks & sage. Two old shed antlers & a cow skull. Scared a moun- tain dove from a big willow at camp. On faunt down creek, shot pewee and had a good look at a pair of sparrow hawks near the rock outcrop just across creek from camp. Thought
