J.G.Hall 1954 165 May 25 Trail Canyon, 1890 ft. White Mts., Esmeralda Co., Calif. out 30 Museum specials about half in the sage some along stream course. It's been windy here all afternoon + evening. May 26 Checked traps 5 AM and found 10 Peromyscus maniculatus sonoriensis, one Sorex palustris and one Lagurus curtatus. Lost two traps, a couple were sprung. Several Peromyscus were badly chewed up, presumably by others, possibly by weasels. Pero- myscus all caught in sage but the Lagurus was down at very edge of stream in a threaset. A couple of the traps had been set in Rocky out crops but no P. crinitus caught. Started up canyon for birds about 7/1 High wind from W. all day. Empidonax seen near stream; white-throats sing-ing loudly all along stream course. Much horse dropping all over the place, in camp as well as along stream farther up and often it is left in a pile a foot high & obvious "strat-ification" as to age. Dihe coons in Tilden Park. Saw 2 "wild" horses on N-facing slope, 20, including 2 colts on the S-facing slope
