J.G.Hall 1954 163 May 16 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. R'slide Rockslide colony (upper) 12:30. Main lodge still has several number food sticks lying on bottom plus some fir cuttings. A fir cutting on for dam upstream. Also some cutting of 1-2- 3 yr old sprouts dam a lowest part of colony built last higher than last summer. + has backed water up to cover area where 2 caught travers with 6" of water. Left 1:05. May 24 Berkeley, Left 6:15 with Ward Russell & Frank Williamson and crossed Sierra via Sonora Pass which had only been open one day. Little snow for this early. Over to 395' S south to Mono lake by mid-afternoon. Stopped at dump for an hour or so to collect 4 Calif gulls for brood patches. All had them tho' some barely discern- nible. On down to Bishop where we stay - May 25 ed all night at Willis. Left Bishop about 10, AM went N on Route 6, crossing S of Excelsior Mtn + N of Whites via Montgomery Pass, 7123' turning S about 25 mi. E of Nevada State line. on to Route 3A into Columbus Valley, then on down into Fish Lake Valley.
